How to Smell Good When Traveling
I like to smell good at all times and especially when traveling. However, if you don’t know how to properly pack your perfumes, it can be frustrating. Nonetheless, traveling doesn't give you a free pass to smell like socks, so here are some tips on how to smell good on the road.
I want this to be the GOAT of travel guides on how to pack perfume. People tend to sacrifice bringing fragrance on trips because the bottles are generally over the TSA size limits…
But don't panic! I’ve got you covered. 😉
TSA Restrictions
Checking Luggage
If you check your luggage, you can pack perfume bottles.
However, you should avoid the hassle of checking luggage!
Also, please don't pack glass bottles because we all know how luggage is mishandled during transit. You can bring up to 17 ounces if you check your bag.
I have no idea why someone would need 17 ounces of any fragrance period, but you do you! 🤷🏽♀️
Carry-On Luggage
Perfume/Cologne falls within the 3-1-1 rule, just like any other liquid.
The container can't be more than 3.4 ounces if it's in your carry-on…
Honestly, 3.4 ounces is a lot of fragrance, so bring a smaller container unless you get really smelly on trips.🤣
I recommend getting 1-ounce bottles to free up some space.
Options
Travel Sizes
Travel-size perfume/cologne, usually in the form of a spray, is available at most makeup stores like Macy's, Sephora, and Ulta. Even if you don't see the travel size of your favorite perfume on the shelf, they might still have it, so ask an employee.
Free Samples
The stores mentioned above also have free samples. Just ask. You'll get to try the latest fragrances for free! Even if they don't have free samples, ask to sample a fragrance because you're interested in buying it.
Roller Ball
Roller balls are another way of applying fragrance. Instead of spraying the perfume on the skin, the scent is rolled on like a deodorant. Preferably, roll it on your pressure points. Most popular fragrances have a roller ball version.
Roller Balls are super small, so they're perfect for traveling.
Duty-Free
Duty-free allows you to buy fragrances (sometimes at a discount), at the airport. Thus, the TSA 3-1-1 no longer applies. You can bring as much fragrance directly on the plane!
Be sure to buy fragrances on the last leg of your trip because you might have to go through another security checkpoint for connecting flights. This means that you'll have to check your duty-free purchases as luggage.
Travel Perfume Atomizer
A travel atomizer is a small fragrance bottle with a sprayer, just like the larger bottles.
I like this option because you can bring your favorite cologne, and it's super easy to refill.
I use a travel atomizer for my travels. You can easily pick up the product from Amazon.
Disclaimer: I get a small commission for this product. So, if you get 50 friends to purchase it, I'll get a dollar. 💰🤑
P.S. Don't overdo it with perfume, especially on the plane. Traveling is already stressful, so we don't need people passing out from your overwhelming scent.
